Our Jack Russell Terriers Today
Our Jack Russell Terriers Today, at little over one year old. Growing up
to be the most beautiful and loving little breed of dogs that we have ever
had to be a part of our family.
Diamond Eye the Jack Russell Terrier daddy, shown below, has gained
a little weight since he was "fixed" about a year ago. He has taken to
fatherhood wonderfully, and other than showing who's boss at times,
is most loving and gently with his children. Diamond Eye has grown
more mature and has also grown to a beautiful male breed of the Jack
Russell Family. He is a delight, very playful, loves to play basketball
with his basketball outside, brings a toy to throw to him, so that he
can catch it and bring it back, gets a toy to settle down the little ones
when they get rowdy, and stays close to his Sapphire Lady, like a
good mate does! He puts up with his little girl Shortcake, who tends to
love to tantalize him, especially when he has a special toy or treat she
wants to take away from him even when she has her very own.!
Diamond Eye our Jack Russell Familys Daddy
![]() Sapphire Lady our Jack Russell Terrier Familys, Mother.
Saffy as we call her, has been both a joy and most attention
demanding, from day one, of when we got her.! She still sits
up in her begging position, just as she did when she was that
tiny little darling we brought home when she was only six
weeks old. Now that wasn't something Saffy was trained for.!
She just naturally acquired that little sweet gesture of asking
for something she wanted. Who said that animals were dumb?
I have watched these little Jack Russell Terriers grow from
babyhood to adult, and each have their own personalities.
Each respond to our voices and words with an intelligence
that amazes me. I am by nature, a low voice person, but if
I get excited or upset my voice raises somewhat in volume.
These little Terriers, recognize immediately and also
respond, to my voice. They know when I am upset, or
excited, they react when I am sad, with the most loving
attention. I see each of them as unique, and as silly as this
may sound to some, I never see any of the little Jacks as
just an animal, or something that does not having feelings,
or cannot understand what is being said or told them.
They are like little children indeed in their actions, and more
loving than some children I have seen of today. We love them
each and continue to share our love with them.
Sapphire Lady, below, the mother of the little ones, and mate to
our Diamond Eye, is the most sensitive of the family. And each
of them are very sensitive. However, Sapphire Lady, will not
stay away from me and my husband Dale, for any length of time.
She will go out and enjoy the sunshine, run and play with the
little ones and Diamond, for awhile, but then that it is! When she
is through she wants in and is very attention getting till she gets
in! No way can we place her in the sunroom over night with
the boys, for we would not get any peace and quiet till we let
her in with us.! She is beautiful, more so now that she has
become a mother, than even before, she is also spoiled, and
gets all the attention she wants from me and my husband. She
is wonderful, and we love her very much!
Sapphire Lady
![]() Shortcake, the little girl of Sapphire Lady and Diamond Eye
Shortcake, is the most demanding when it comes to her loving
on you. She gives sugar, sugar, sugar, and more! She will tease
and tantalize her Daddy, Diamond Eye, often, by curling up
around his face and giving him sugar, and trying to take or make
him share his treat with her, even though her treat is laying right
next to her! She always wants what the others have, and usually
ends up with it. We love watching her! Shortcake is the smallest
of our little Jack Russell Terrier Family, her mother being the next
size up, and Saffy is quite small as well. The boys, Diamond Duke
and Little Diamond as well as Diamond Eye, are the larger of the
family members. Shortcake is a darling, gets almost as much
attention as her mother, almost! Shortcake was "fixed" before
her first season, due to her being around the boys quite frequent.
She enjoys staying out with the boys on a sunny day, and playing
with them in the sun room often. So therefore we did not want
to take the chance that she was caught by one of her brothers.
We do not intend to get the "brothers" fixed, for they will make
absolutely lovely babies with the right mate. So Shortcake is
safe around the guys in the group now. Sapphire Lady, will be
getting "fixed" shortly, we wanted to give her time to get really
built up after having the babies before she has to go thru the
surgery.

![]() Little Diamond
Little Diamond, the shy one of the family, is so sweet and
looks so sad most of the time, with the expression on his
face. He has the one white eye and the other with the coloring
of his brother and sister. He only has one upper white eye lashes!
He is something else!
He can jump over a 4-foot wall! Probably higher but definately
that height as we have a wall divider added in our sun room so that
we can keep them on the other side where they can come in and
out as they want to thru their doggie door, and we can sit in the
other area with a fire in our wood burning stove on cold nights.
Little Diamond plays most often with his brother Diamond
Duke, but also with his Mom and Dad and Sister when they are
all together.
Little Diamond has learned to "hike" now when he uses the
bathroom, and if he can't get out of doors to use the bathroom,
he will do his "poop" in the litter box, but at times will enjoy a
hike somewhere else for the other. When they are in our living
area, they will go to our front door to go out for their bathroom
use, but if we are not watching and they got to go, well they will
eventually go somewhere! Little Diamond loves to jump on top
of their top of the dog house outside ( we use the bottom inside
of our sunroom for their litter box to give them plenty of room
for using it), and he has at times jumped on top of our patio table.
I am sure he could easily jump over our chain linked fence, if
he knew it, and am hoping he will not ever think to try it!
He doesn't know how, or either doesn't like to be held in our
lap, but he will sit up for us to rub his tummy and sometimes
when the other 4 of the little family will allow enough room,
he will lay close to us. He does have a special place at the foot
of me, when I am working at the computer and he is in here
with us.
Little Diamond
![]() Diamond Duke
Oh our Diamond Duke! He is most like his Daddy, Diamond Eye.
He is the little aggressor of the children, and most times he is
boss! He is also our little adventurer. He is playful like his Daddy,
and will run and pick up a toy, and tease the others with it. He
is somewhat backward about approaching strangers, and I think
will be one of the protectors, out of the three. He is gently, loving
and loves attention as well as any of the others, and as much as
I love each of the others, Duke, as I call him, is closest to me.

![]() The Brothers Diamond Duke and Little Diamond
Here in the picture below, is most often the way we find
the brothers. Together. At night Diamond Duke will
cuddly up with Little Diamond to sleep, and they show
alot of affection for each other. But since they are getting
to be "big" boys now, sometimes Duke mostly, will be a little
aggessive with Little Diamond. I won't allow them to be too
aggessive with each other, for I don't want them to ever fight,
but I realize that in a pack there has to be one that is looked
at as the leader, and when big Daddy, Diamond Eye is not
around Duke is that leader!
The Brothers:
![]() Although it seems that each time a picture is taken of me with
anyone, not just our little Jack Russell Terriers, I am most
dis-satisfied with how it turns out, this being said, below is a
photograph of me with our Diamond Eye, Sapphire Lady, and
little Shortcake.
Me, Diamond Eye, Sapphire Lady and Shortcake:
![]() It takes some doing to get a picture with the group, all together!
When we pet or play with one of them, and they are all together,
we end up with all five on us! Below is a photograph of the Daddy,
Diamond Eye, Diamond Duke, and Little Diamond.

![]() A photograph below is of Misty our Cat, who now looks at the little
family as part of our home. She even chases them on occassion, and
gives them a slap here and there when they pass by her! They all do
really amazingly well with Misty.

for something that I would prefer he didn't, his occassional
napping spot in our sun room.

I wanted to share it with you:

don't think, or at least I have not seen her jump as
high as he can.!
